The Fredonia Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) is for students in grades 7-12 who have an interest and curiosity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). STEP is a grant offered through the New York State Education Department to support students from diverse or low socio-economic background interested in STEM related fields.
Mrs. Schmitt and Mr. Hider are co-advisors of this program. Our library provides a nice open space for students to work on the following projects.

V8 Engine - 500+ Parts
A real electric motor inside the starter motor housing drives the V8 engine through its 4-stroke process. The crankshaft, rods and pistons can be observed through special viewing windows. The intricate valve-trains atop the engine, as well as chains, pullies, and accessories on the front, demonstrate the coordination among all the moving parts.
5-Cylinder Radial Engine - 230+ Parts
A real electric motor inside the starter motor housing drives the 5-Cylinder Radial engine. The crankshaft, rods and pistons can be observed through special viewing windows.
