DESTINY

Destiny is the name of the NBIS Library's online catalog.  The catalog contains records of every book or material our library has available to check out. You can research topics, titles, series, authors or even genres that you might like to discover.  Electronic Books, or eBooks, are available to be checked out and read on any device that is able to access Destiny.  Destiny also provides a great resource to use when researching projects as the Destiny homepage has a list of links that will help you cite sources using MLA, access class projects, and build a list of credible online materials for research

How to log on to Destiny:

1. Type into the URL Bar the following website address: http://northbranford.follettdestiny.com (or you can use the shortcut button above that will take you to the Destiny website)

2. Click on the box that says "North Branford Intermediate School - Carol Sue Papa Library Media Center"

3. From this page, click the button in the top right corner that says "Login".  Here you will be able to log into Destiny with your school Google account.

4. After the login, the website should direct you to the Home page, which contains a list of materials and sources for you to use.  Also, at the top of the page, there is a tab marked "Catalog".  Clicking on the Catalog tab will send you to a page which contains a search bar where you can type in information about the book or resource they are trying to find.

After logging in to Destiny, you'll have access to other features, such as the ability to write book reviews and reserve books that are currently checked out.

How to check out an eBook on Destiny:

1. Login to Destiny

2. Click the Catalog tab at the top of the page.

3. Click on the Destiny Discover heading on the left side of the page.  A new tab will open which will direct you to the Destiny Discover page.  Make sure you are also logged into Destiny Discover page by clicking on the person icon in the upper right corner.

4. Scroll to the bottom of the page to the eBook heading and click on the "See all" link.

5. From this page, you can view the entire list of eBooks owned by the NBIS library.  Click on the filter buttons on the left side of the screen to narrow down the type of eBooks you might want to checkout.  If you see a red triangle in the corner of the book that you want to check out, it means that eBook is currently checked out.  If a blue triangle is found in the corner of the eBook, it means there is an unlimited quantity of this book.  Green triangles in the corner of the eBook mean the book is available to be checked out.

6. To begin reading, you can click the "Open Book" button to begin reading immediately without checking out the book or click the "Checkout" button to reserve the book.

How to Write a Book Review on Destiny:

1. Login to Destiny

2. Click on the Catalog tab at the top of the page.

3. Type in the title or author's name in the search box.

4. Click on the title of the book you would like to write a review about.

5. Click on the tab in the upper right corner labeled "Reviews".

6. Select the button labeled "New Review".

​7. Select a rating and write a short description about the book. Click submit.

​8. All reviews will be reviewed by Ms. Molloy before being published on Destiny.

How to Reserve a Book on Destiny:

1. Login to Destiny

2. Click on the Catalog tab at the top of the page.

3. Type in the title or author's name in the search box.

4. Click on the title of the book you would like to reserve.

5. Click the button labeled "Hold It!".

6. When the book is ready for you, your homeroom teacher will give you a slip from the library that will tell you it is ready to be picked up.  Students will have two weeks to pick up the book from the library after the date the hold is ready before the reserve is canceled and the book is returned to the shelves for general circulation.
