Updated August 12, 2026: Economic Development, Strategy #30 - In partnership with the City of Lawrence, evaluate the economic impacts of the Lawrence Municipal Airport to determine options for maximizing economic benefits to both communities: In August of 2026, the Planning Board approved a site plan review application submitted by Lawrence Municipal Airport, to construct a new Airport Administration facility to replace the existing 1950’s era building. The new building will include airport administration space, tenant office space, and space for a future restaurant.
Updated July 10, 2026: Land Use, Strategy #7 - Undertake a series of area plans for key commercial and mixed-use nodes to establish desired visions and outcomes for each location and craft zoning to implement those desired outcomes: The Town formed a working group to examine the possibility of rezoning the area north of Sutton Street, between Route 495 and Charles Street, with the intent of encouraging more commercial and mixed-use development, as well as public access to and along the Merrimack River.
Updated June 30, 2026: Public Facilities and Services, Strategy #98 - Continue to support Veterans Services so that they may provide needed services to veterans: In June of 2026, the Veterans Services Office coordinated a mobile veterans clinic over two days that involved Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), an organization that provides Veterans and transitioning service members with high-quality, timely, and accurate medical disability exams by trained professionals. The clinic was held in VES's mobile unit.
