What is the National Honor Society?
The National Honor Society is a nation-wide organization comprised of high school students who are dedicated to high standards of scholarship, leadership, service and character. Students enter the Honor Society as juniors and they set academic and civic goals for themselves for the remainder of their high school experience. Northampton's local chapter of the National Honor Society is known as the Nonotuck Chapter.
What are the responsibilities of a National Honor Society Member?
(1) Maintain a minimum 3.4 grade point average
(2) Complete 10 hours of school-related volunteer service
(3) Complete 10 hours of community-related volunteer service
National Honor Society members must demonstrate strong leadership and character within the school and community at all times.
How Can I Join The National Honor Society?
NHS students who have a minimum 3.4 GPA receive an invitation to apply to the honor society in March of their junior year. A team of NHS faculty reviews the applications and determines acceptance. Students are informed of acceptance and are invited to take part in a special National Honor Society induction ceremony to formalize membership.
The Class of 2019 Honor Society Application Period is open from 3/6/18 through 3/16/18 and the Induction Ceremony is scheduled for March 27 at 7pm in the Northampton High School auditorium.
