Homework policy

Students should plan on 20-30 minutes of ELA

homework on weeknights (Monday-Thursday).

I try not to give HW on the weekends.

HW is posted each day on the HW page. If there is

a routinely used worksheet, it will be uploaded as a

PDF file or a google doc on the HW page as well.

I actively rely on google docs for just about

everything. You may always type your homework,

but I do need you to hand in hard copies.

IF HW is handed in late, a point will be taken off

each day that it is late. This may not seem like a

big deal, but it does add up after awhile.

I expect HW to be printed before class.

If a student arrives to class and

(habitually) “needs to print,” this is

considered late HW. Please do not assume

you can use class time to print. However, I am

happy to receive emails if you are struggling with

the homework or any part of submission. I like working

with students to develop all the necessary skills

that help get you through school.

Please also email me if you have major life events:

religious ceremonies, family celebrations, funerals,

massively important sporting events, musical

performances that deserve standing ovations, trips

to Mars, circus performances, premature & sudden

bed times, etc. etc.... I like life, maybe even more

than I like words, books and composition. Let’s try

to always make sure life is happening.
