System Support
System Support consists of management activities that establish, maintain, and enhance the school counseling program. This component is implemented and carried out through activities in the following areas:
North Allegheny Counseling Advisory Council
Professional Development
Community Outreach and Resources
Testing and Assessment:
Group-Administered Ability and Achievement Testing (i.e., Cognitive Ability Tests - CogATs and Pennsylvania System of School Assessment - PSSAs); Individual Ability and Achievement Testing, as requested by determined need
Student Assistance Program (SAP):
SAP is a collaborative effort between school personnel and the parents to help identify and meet student needs. This process is in place to review information, gather data, identify strategies, formulate a plan for intervention, and monitor student progress. Core Team members include: Parents/Guardians, School Principal, Reading Specialist, MTSS Interventionist, Classroom Teachers, School Psychologist, School Counselor, and SAP Liaison through The University of Pittsburgh MAPS Program. Other Team Members may include: School Speech/Language Pathologist, School Nurse, and Occupational Therapist.
