Google Classroom will be the main "hub" for all teachers/students in grades 1-12. It is critical that teachers and students become familiar and comfortable with Google Classroom. In addition, teachers must maintain an organized and well-managed Google Classroom. This means completing regular "housekeeping" in the Stream and Classwork tabs -- akin to keeping a physical classroom tidy and neat.
Seesaw will be the main "hub" that PreK and Kindergarten teachers/students will employ for providing engaging learning experiences and for communicating with families.
GoGuardian is used to allow teachers to monitor student activity during synchronous and asynchronous instruction. Teachers should use this to block and allow students on specific sites during instruction.
Zoom is the main platform for visually connecting with your students. This is where you will host your daily meetings and lessons with your students.
Students are learning remotely.
Attendance should be taken twice daily: everyday by 9:00am and after lunch
The school will operate on its own schedule (same times as regular day).
Remote Learning Daily Schedule Sample
Remote Learning Daily Schedule Blank
Teachers will develop synchronous (live) and asynchronous (independent) lesson activities.
All Zoom meetings should be recorded.
Teachers will be signed in to Zoom and actively teaching or available to support students during the ELA and Math blocks.
Teachers will use adopted curriculum resources (below) and district instructional models as outlined in EL Education and Navigator Math.
Teachers will employ the use of i-Ready to support students in their personalized learning paths. Teachers will manage and monitor student progress in the platform and provide remediation when necessary.
Teachers will utilize the 60 minutes of student i-Ready time as a prep period.
In the morning, students will log into Clever and Seesaw and connect to their first Zoom meeting. They should be ready to to begin their day with instruction starting promptly at the time designated by the school/teacher.
Students will have daily live instruction.
Students will also engage in whole group, small group, one-on-one, and independent activities.
Students will have breaks and lunch scheduled throughout the day.
Students will follow the classroom schedule provided by the school.
Students will be required to submit assignments daily, as requested.
Students should be actively involved throughout the instructional day:
Ask and respond to questions.
Engage with peers and teachers.
Complete assignments in a timely manner.
Students should have a home learning environment free from distractions.
Ongoing communication plays a major role in creating strong and positive home-school partnerships.
STAFF
Parents will be added as guardians to students’ Google Classrooms (1-12) or Seesaw (PK/K).
Regular email communication among staff, students, and parents.
Phone calls will be made if a student is observed not participating in daily instruction and if grades are below satisfactory (C).
Staff will respond to parents phone calls or emails within 24 business hours.
PARENTS
Contact classroom teachers for questions about classroom instruction.
Parents are asked to respond to staff calls or emails within 24 business hours.
Synchronous Approach:
Much like a traditional school day, students will interact with their teacher and classmates using their Chromebooks. Teachers will be recording virtual meetings daily so that students and parents can review them later in the day if needed.
Teachers will use the adopted curriculum materials appropriate for the subject/grade level they are teaching. Digital curriculum materials will be used to enhance lessons.
Asynchronous Approach:
Teachers may assign independent work and practice in Google Classroom or other associated digital platforms. Time should be built in to daily instructional blocks for students to complete this asynchronous work. It is acceptable to assign homework that mirrors the district timing homework expectations.
All assigned work should be linked back to Google Classroom or Seesaw.
i-Ready (K-8) and Edmentum Exact Path (9-12) are also considered asynchronous teaching platforms. In addition, to the asynchronous nature, these platforms provide personalized instruction based on student performance on the diagnostic. K-8 students will be expected to complete 30 minutes each in both Math and Reading daily. It is the teacher's responsibility to monitor student progress through the platform and provide remediation when appropriate.
