Details:

· Must use Breast Cancer Data from CDC (https://wonder.cdc.gov/).

· You can combine other data sets (e.g., Census Bureau data).

· Individual or Team (2 or more people) entries are allowed.

· Entries must be submitted by June 1, 2019.

· Two virtual meet-ups will take place in June and August to answer any questions on the data challenge.

· Results will be presented on September 13, 2019 at the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Virtual attendance on September 13 is possible.

· Draft slides will be due by September 11. Final judging is based solely on the results presented on September 13.

· Your final entry can include visualizations, modeling, hypothesis testing, and/or any other type of analysis you want to do

· Judging criteria: objective, presentation, methods, visuals, interpretation of results

Steps to Download Data:

· Go to (https://wonder.cdc.gov/).

· Click on Compressed Mortality

· Click on one of the Underlying Cause-of-Death options, e.g., Mortality for 1999 – 2016ICD Codes. You can use any or all.

· Scroll through page, read, and agree to the terms.

· Section 1: Group by County, Select Age-adjusted rate

· Section 3: Choose Female

· Section 4: Open Neoplasms -> Malignant Neoplasms -> Malignant Neoplasm of Breast

· Section 5: Select all options for export

· Hit Send button to save data to file
