Getting Involved
Getting Involved
Our goal is to create a community-wide and genuinely inclusive event with as many partners and event hosts as possible, The more organizations that participate by signing on, promoting and taking part in the Melrose Reads program, the more individuals in our city will feel engaged and included. The greater the involvement, the greater the impact that this program will have on our city.
We are grateful to all of these 2022 Melrose Reads Partner organizations:
Melrose Public Library
Melrose Public Schools
Melrose Council on Aging
Racial Justice Community Coalition
Melrose Human Rights Commission
Follow Your Art Community Studios
The Bridge
Melrose Education Foundation
One way to join this experience is by leveraging the network of your organization to encourage more Melrosians to participate. A number of groups have already signed on. Email melrosecommunityread@gmail.com to add your organization's name to our partner list and to promote and share Melrose Reads information with your membership.
The goal of Melrose Reads is to bring residents together through the shared experience of engaging with a book. One way to enrich one's literary experience and bring our community together is through a variety of events related to the title. These events could include:
Hosting a 'Read-In' or book listening session
Facilitating a discussion group
Planning a workshop/panel discussion/lecture by scholars of the work or related title
Writing workshops
Exhibits that incorporate relevant and book-related images and information
Concert presenting music of the period, region, or theme of the book
Showing the film version of the book or films typical of the time, period, or genre
Storytelling workshops and event
Holding a literary trivia contest
