Issue of the Week

Every two weeks, there will be a new question or social issue listed on this page. This will be serious topics that are being discussed today and that can have major impacts on our society. For example, was looting an acceptable response to the murder of George Floyd? This is an important discussion happening today that many people still disagree on. Remember that there is not necessarily a right or wrong answer; there are opinions, and the extent to which we can actually support those opinions through our reasoning.

Use the Google Form below to submit your opinion! As scholars, it is important to 1) say what you truly think about the topic, 2) provide reasoning and explanation on WHY you have that opinion, and 3) remain respectful of your peers' thoughts. This is NOT classwork; it is just a space for healthy and thoughtful debate, which many of you already engage in on Facebook and other social media.

Issue of the Week: Climate change and other environmental issues have received even more attention in the past decade. Some politicians think that climate change is the most pressing problem facing our society; others think that it is not as important as keeping a healthy economy.
