School Program:

  • Students in Temporary Living Situations (STLS)- If you are in a transitional housing situation, you are eligible to enroll your student in this Chicago Public Schools Program. They also have a resource guide at the bottom of the page for additional help and assistance. Please contact your school social workers for more information and how to apply.


Financial Assistance and Rental Rights:

  • The Emergency Rental Assistance Program from the Illinois Housing Authority was enacted on August 10th. See the portal here to apply.

  • Know Your Rights, see here for more information regarding your rights as a tenant before facing eviction from the City of Chicago. There is also a hotline to call Chicago Rents Right Hot-line at 312.742.RENT (312.742.7368)

  • The Preservation Company has up to date resources regarding housing assistance information state-wide, city of Chicago and suburban Cook county http://www.preservationcompact.org/coronavirus/

  • Catholic Charities- provides emergency financial assistance. In order to qualify, use the screening tool first on their website prior to calling 311 if you live in the city of Chicago: https://www.catholiccharities.net/Default.aspx


Homelessness/Shelter/Eviction Information:

  • Streetlight Chicago provides up to date resources regarding shelters/resources for youth 16-24. See here. They also have an app you can download on your phone.

  • Heartland Alliance provides case management to at-risk homeless or formerly homeless residents in Chicago. See the link here for more information.

  • Unity Parenting and Counseling, Inc. works primarily with youth in foster care but provides homeless transitional shelters on the south side. See here for more information.

  • Margaret’s Village provides transitional housing to women, children and families located primarily in the Englewood community.

  • City of Chicago Homeless Services Resource Page

  • Chicago Resource Hub has information regarding HUD public housing/voucher locator, Habilitative, Inc. resource for case management, referrals.

  • Primo Center provides family shelter and permanent supportive housing, as well as medical care and early childhood development services to homeless families in Chicago located in the Englewood community.
