12:30 PM - 1:15 PM: Carissa Wolfe, Michal Yadlin, Stephanie Barham, & Jesse Buchholz - The Adjunct Faculty Voice: What Collective Governance Means (Room 102/104)
- This panel is designed to demonstrate various ways adjunct faculty are currently represented in faculty governance in the Treasure Valley and how adjunct faculty can become more involved in advocating common concerns to administration.

- Yoga en Español is an event the provides students an opportunity to practice their language skills and network while also practicing yoga. Learn how this event enhances student learning and engagement—and also pick up a yoga tip or two!

- Michal Yadlin - Flipping the Test (Room 106)
- This session demonstrates a creative way to help students learn course content while also addressing test anxiety: students create the test! This strategy encourages students to think critically, master the content and demonstrate application of learning outcomes, while also giving them the test-preparation skills they need to be successful in other courses.

- Danielle Alba - Ruthless: Getting Honest Peer Participation Evaluations (Room 108)
- It is well known that student participation and engagement affect student learning, but many instructors hesitate to include participation in their grading for logistical reasons. This session will demonstrate a peer-participation technique that increases honesty in student evaluation and rewards students putting forth extra effort.

- Bethany Haglund & Amy Ackley - Rethink Assessment: Creating Innovative Approaches to Authentic Learning (Room 101)
- Harness the power of authentic assessment through innovative strategies for online, blended or face-to-face learning environments. In this session, participants will be introduced to the attributes of authentic assessment and engage with multiple student-centered approaches for implementing them in any course.

- Max Graham - Using Your X-Ray Vision to Design a Great Course (Room 106)
- Learning good design theory is an important skill for anyone serving in an instructional capacity. This session focuses on the seven elements of Andrew Gibbons' design layer theory, as well as how these elements interact within instruction. Attendees can expect to leave this session as better-versed and more confident designers of instruction.

- Michelle Bennet, Todd Norton, & Sean Hunter - Establishing Cooperative Practices Across Departments and Institutions in Idaho (Room 108)
- In April, the Departments of Communication and Media Arts at BSU and CWI held the 2nd annual joint summit to collaborate on curriculum, best practices and programmatic goals with an emphasis on professional development for adjunct faculty who teach at both institutions. This presentation provides an overview of the collaborative program, feedback from adjunct faculty who teach at both institutions and an opportunity for adjunct attendee feedback.

- Nicolas Diaz & Josh Valk - Soft Skill Development for Student Success (Room 101)
- Developing soft skills is a marker of student success in academia and beyond, but is also a difficult skill to incorporate into higher education. Nicolas Diaz will present on a workshop created at BSU to support students on academic probation in developing better habits and awareness. Josh Valk will focus on how to integrate soft skill development into general education technical program curricula.

- Anthony Saba - Improving Instructor Student Communication & Developing Instructor Immediacy in Online Courses (Room 106)
- Instructor immediacy research in the traditional classroom has a long history, but there has been little research conducted on it in online learning. This presentation will describe instructor immediacy and present strategies for improving instructor immediacy in online courses.

- Bethanie Hansen - Effectively Manage Adjunct Online Faculty Through Coaching & Community Building (Room 108)
- Online education can be challenging and isolating, and with variations in course development strategies and teaching expectations, adjunct faculty performance may also vary widely. This session will equip administrators with strategies, tools and ideas to build community with online adjunct faculty.

Plenary Session: 4:00 PM - 4:45 PM
- Doceo Center - Cognitive Load and Learning (Room 102/104)
- Based on the research and work from Todd Zakrajsek, this session will focus on how cognitive load impacts student outcomes and provide tools so instructors can develop specific activities and lesson plans to help students deepen their learning.
