Mrs. Latuch- The teacher

I am very excited for this school year! This is my 19th year teacher 4th grade at Deer Park Elementary! I really look forward to getting to know my students and their families. By the end of the year my expectation is that all students will have become more responsible, more respectful, and better problem solvers.

I love to watch the children explore and learn as we work our way through the curriculum. In my room we have a focus on reading and writing. I know not all children enjoy reading and one of my goals is to get all children to improve their "like" of reading.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year!

Mrs. Latuch- The Person

My name is Kara Latuch. I am originally from Massachusetts. That being said, I am a huge New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics fan! I have been living and teaching in Newport News for 20 years. I have been teaching at Deer Park for 19 of those years. I have a wonderful husband that is a principal in Newport News as well. We have two great children, Evan, who is 16 years old and Emma, who is 13 years old. Outside of school our family is very involved in Warwick Little League. My husband and I are both on the board and our children have played for Warwick Little League since they were 5 years old.

In our free time our family enjoys spending time together at the beach. We love family game nights and just being together!
