Kari Hernandez Valdez was born and raised in the southwest region of the USA and has roots in New Mexico. Kari earned her Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Business Management followed by her Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix. She has been in the counseling field since 2011 and has provided therapy services for children, adolescents, and adults. Kari has worked as a professional counselor in outpatient, detention facilities, rehabilitation facilities, and in home settings.
Kari has experience working with domestic violence, addictions, grief, parenting skills, sleep problems, varied mental health diagnoses, and legal and socioeconomic concerns. She has been formally trained in EMDR therapy to assist children, adolescents, and adults in processing traumatic memories. Kari works from a systemic, collaborative, strength-based approach. She has an eclectic approach in her treatment modalities to include psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and person-centered techniques.
In her free time, Kari enjoys spending time with her family and pets, traveling, volunteering, reading, live entertainment, social dancing, cooking and baking, and working with children and youth in her church.
