ZENTAGLE QUILL PENS

Students created a modern take on the quill pen while demonstrating their understanding of the art of Zentangle. Using a variety of patterns made up of clean lines, and both solid and hollow shapes, students created a decorative feather and attached it to a pen with twine. Finished designs have a good balance of positive and negative shapes.

SIGNET RINGS

After being presented with a history of the design, use, and significance of signet rings, students used polymer clay and copper wire to design a signet ring with personal significance. Students then used the ring to create a wax seal on a letter to someone important in their life

BASKETWEAVING

Students demonstrated an understanding of the coil basket weaving technique by creating a basket in a form of their choice that includes a repeating pattern inspired by any culture, with a “nature” theme, or from their own design.

PETER MAX INSPIRED PORTRAITS

Students created a multi-media portrait of a self-selected person in their life they have an interest in getting to know better. Students then composed a 20-question survey for this person and used the answers to make creative decisions for a background behind a photograph that will represent the person they chose.

NeURographic Art

Students focused on a "quest" (something in their life they wanted to change/improve upon) during their time at home amid the Coronavirus restrictions. While focusing on their quest, they were instructed to create an intuitive artwork that made connections between what they see and what they think.

UNTITLED by April ScottEach line is going to end but in the middle has twists and turns, which is the same as any situation in life.

BRIGHTNESS by Cinthia DoranteI learned that sometimes you just have to let yourself loose and see where the drawing takes you in other word is that you should not plan what your going to draw instead you should just keep drawing until you see something you like because eventually you will.
ALL BUT ONE by Bradley IshihamaStarted with the concept of the universe, what does it mean? How did it start? How are we like this? Should we be fighting each other or fighting something above? Is there a universal economy in which if we join would make all of Earth under poverty and worse because if there's 500 million planets connected to one economy and there could be planets that are bigger than Earth and so on.
UNTITLED by Sean ZafraI feel this project definitely did help me find myself, in terms of de-stressing and taking a moment to breathe. I made the project at a time when I was stressed about something, but creating Neurographic art really helped me to revitalize myself.
THE LIGHT in the DARKNESS by Olivia GiolasI focused on using my faith to find the positive lights within this time of unknown darkness. My artwork is a literal representation of the light overtaking the darkness.
VIBRANT LIGHTS by Kaitlin TorresIt helped me to be more relax and have hope that during summer everything will be a bit better
MY FEELINGS :( by Evelyn Chavez
THE CHOICE of LIFE by Margo FunkI’m not really sure if my thoughts affected the way I was coloring or anything, but I was just thinking about how I need to stop stressing myself out as much about routines and to do lists I make in my head as soon as I wake up. I was also just thinking while I was coloring about how I need to be less codependent to determine how I feel about life; it should be something I can decide on my own.

WOMEN'S BODIES by Sequoia SmitThis helped me understand solutions to my quest because the different size bubbles represent different body types of women and it made me realize that my body is beautiful the way it is

Surrealist Art

During distance learning, students learned about the history of Surrealism and a variety of techniques used by Surrealist artists which were applied to landscape collages and juxtaposed creatures.

UNIQUE SIDES to ONE PARTNERSHIP by Olivia GiolasIt is a lot about unique friendship/companionship. I tried to use the human and alien to show the unique partnership that they have to show that you can find friends in any place.

TWIGGY in SPACE by Ella BoumanMy artwork isn’t really about anything specific other than having an open mind and enjoying life, I want viewers to interpret it as anything their minds wants them to.
HOME SWEET HOME by Margo FunkMy artwork’s about a girl coming home from work, she's exhausted and worn out and is tired of the real world, so coming home she gets to escape the reality that the world beholds, and live with just her and her mind for awhile, being where the surrealism is.
UNTITLED by Jordan ThompsonMy artwork is about the brains interpretation of future reality.
UNTITLED by Sergio SanchezIt is a reflection of all the evil people in your life that are waiting for you to let down your guard to strike you (snake), and the wings are a representation of them disguising themselves as angels (good people) so you can’t really know who to trust.

COMIC STRIPS

The student explored different comic book techniques to create an autobiographical comic.

Artwork created by students during quarantine, outside of the regular assignments as a form of expression and to fill all the extra time.

ROCK ART by Tessa ChapmanI have been working on these rocks for over a month and here they are! A slightly eaten m&m, Absolem the Caterpillar from Alice and Wonderland, Nemo, MIke Wazowski and Sully, and a dotted rock. I plan on giving these to my friends and family. I remember enjoying painting rocks when I was little, now I know what it would be like to do it again years later!
