SB283 - Similar to HB194, SB283 likely seeks to avoid property tax increases by making an entire metro area a Metro Redevelopment Zone. So, housing receiving the tax abatement doesn't have to go into areas of a city that need some love. More importantly, only 15% of multi-family units in a complex would need to be affordable -- defined as b/w 70% and 95% AMI. That completely leaves out our extremely and very low income (30% and 50% AMI, respectively) folks that are (a) are most in need and (b) most likely to lose housing. Additionally, there is ONE particular developer that builds for exactly 95% AMI. AN ACTUAL MRA affordable REdevelopment build requires 80% of all units in a multi-family to be affordable. So, 80% of the units versus 15% of the units.
