Classroom Guidance Lessons

Classroom guidance lessons are an integral part of the NMA's school counseling program and important to every student’s academic and social-emotional success.

One of the most effective ways for school counselors to proactively address student concerns is by discussing issues such as peer relationships, problem solving, or using coping skills when students experience big feelings and emotions. The lessons are designed to reach all students, and are taught in the classroom to a large group by the school  counselor. Other topics that could be taught are celebrating differences, practicing self-love, and anger management strategies.
