Safe Arrival
Starting on Monday, October 31st, St. Kevin's will be introducing a new, more efficient student absence reporting system called SafeArrival. This new system will reduce the time it takes to verify student attendance, make it easy for you to report your child’s absence and easy for staff to respond to unexplained student absences.
With SafeArrival, you are asked to report your child’s absence in advance using any of these 3 convenient methods:
Using your mobile device, download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store (or from the links at go.schoolmessenger.ca). The first time you use the app, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
Use the SafeArrival website (go.schoolmessenger.ca). The first time you use the website, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
Call the toll-free number 1-(844)-408-9360 to report an absence using the automated phone system.
When reporting an absence, select the full day on the new reporting system (if your child arrives late due to an appointment or other reason, they sign in at the office with a note or text from a parent and we will update their attendance on PowerSchool for the remainder of the day)
Late arriving to school: For late arrivals you may choose to skip reporting the absence, and when your child signs in at the office with a note or text from a parent explaining their tardiness, we will update the attendance on PowerSchool accordingly.
If your child is signing out early you may send a note or text with your child to allow them to dismiss early when they sign out at the office, and we will update PowerSchool attendance accordingly.
For a previous day's absence, you may send a note or text in with your child when they are in school and we will update the attendance on PowerSchool accordingly.
ABSENCE NOTIFICATIONS ARE UPLOADED AT 4:00PM AND WILL UPDATE POWERSCHOOL AT THAT TIME.
(when you enter an excused absence, you may still receive absence notifications until the absence is updated the end of day)

Chromebooks
We realize there may be some students that have changed their mind from last year regarding Chromebooks, late requests from last year or new students in our school that wish to get a Chromebook. Part of the Chromebook distribution process involves a Chromebook Loan Agreement which requires signatures of both the Parents/Guardians and Students.
To facilitate this process, and prior to Chromebook distribution, below are the Chromebook Loan Agreement and Chromebook Agreement Cover Letter. Parents/Guardians and Students must read and sign the Chromebook Loan Agreement in order for the Student to receive a Chromebook. Note: It is your choice to receive a Chromebook or not. It is up to families.

Lockdown/Secure School Procedures
Please note that in the event of a lockdown regular school procedures change totally. At the school we are unable to answer phones or the door. Essentially there is to be no one in or out during a lockdown. When it is possible, there will be communication with parents/guardians through Synrevoice, twitter or another mass communication method, although even this may not always be immediately possible. During a lockdown parents are NOT come to the school even though you may be aware that a lockdown is in progress. This is in the best interest of everyone’s safety as police will be securing the school. Similar to monthly fire drills, St. Kevin's practices lockdown drills periodically through the school year.
