Screening Questionnaire - Must be completed by all students and staff before leaving to go to school.
Visitors - Visitors, volunteers, and parents/guardians are not permitted inside the school. If a parent/guardian must pick up their child, school staff will escort the student to the exit door to meet them.
Signage - There is signage on walls and floors throughout the school to promote safe social distancing. Students enter the building using the door on the right and exit using the door on the left. All students will stay to their right in hallways and stairwells.
Sanitation - Sanitizing stations are available in all classrooms, main entrances, and common areas throughout the school. There is a strong focus on proper hygiene and the washing and sanitizing of hands. Students can bring their own sanitizer for use if they wish but it must be scent free. Support staff have also implemented extra sanitizing protocols throughout the day.
Cohorts - In grades K-9 students stay in their own classroom with their own cohort as much as possible. Subject teachers come to the students in the classroom as opposed to the students going out. Specialist teachers will continue to teach students in alternate learning environments including the music room, gymnasium, etc. It is much more difficult to cohort in 10-12 schools, due to the nature of high school programming and the vast array of courses in which students may be enrolled.
Masks - For K-6 students masks are only mandatory while riding the bus. Once in school, the mask can be removed. 7-12 students must also wear a mask on the bus as well as in communal areas such as hallways, washrooms, entrances/exits, lobby or stage area. Once students are in their cohorts and a distance of 1 meter can be maintained, the masks can be removed.
Supplies - To minimize congestion in the hallways and at lockers throughout the day, students are asked to bring everything they need into their classroom for the morning session and again for the afternoon. Students must have their own supplies as sharing is prohibited.
Students will be asked to wash or sanitize their hands frequently, including upon entering and exiting school, before and after eating, moving between classes, before and after experiential activities (e.g., physical education, music, skills trades, etc.) and before and after using the washroom.
Assigned seating will be in place while travelling on the bus. Siblings will sit next to each other. These measures will be in addition to loading and unloading procedures designed to maximize physical distancing where possible. It is important for students to remember to bring their masks for the bus and for entry into the school.
