The following ideas can be used at home to help develop the skill of listening:
Play a game of "Simon Says" with a family member.
Play a game of "Guess Who" with a family member. You can create your own version or purchase the actual board game at a retailer such as Walmart.
Have a family member give you verbal instructions on how to create something. This may include building, baking, cooking, drawing, etc. There are several options you can use here.
Have a family member blindfold you. Have them provide you with directions on how to get from one area of your house to another.
These listening activities serve as extra practice. I will not be asking students to complete all of these for participation in class. You can use these activities or come up with your own. Have fun with it!
