At the end of this lesson, you will be able be able to add and manage co-hosts of a Google Meet.
The co-host of a meeting is a person who will be managing the meeting along with another host. If it is a Google Classroom Meet, all teachers of the class in Google Classroom are automatically c0-hosts. A co-host will have access to all of same tools available to the creator or the Meet link/Classroom link. Co-hosts are able to add or remove participants and manage settings for the the meeting. Host Controls can be found in the Toolbar on the far right and they are identified by a shield icon with a lock. Click there to access the Host Controls.
By adding a secondary teacher (or multiple) to a Google Classroom, you are allowing that teacher to have Host permissions in the Classroom Meet.
From within Meet, you can manage co-hosts by going to the People tab and clicking on the menu (three vertical dots) by their name. You can grant someone host permissions or remove their host permissions. However, a co-host cannot remove host permissions from the original creator of the Meet link.
If you are listed as a teacher of a Google Classroom, along with other teachers, you should all have co-host abilities within the Classroom Meet. If some do not have co-host abilities, reset the Meet link from within Classroom Settings, refresh your page, and try again.
Now, use the steps you have learned to open a Meet, invite a colleague to join with you, and practice enabling and disabling host controls for your c0-host.
