INTRODUCTION
Endangered animals are those species that are in danger of going extinct. Their numbers are diminishing due to lower reproductive rates compared to their mortality rates over long periods of time. There are many different reasons for this but, very often, it involves a loss of habitat due to human behaviour.
It is important to learn about endangered species as we share our planet with many creatures and what we do and how we live affects all on earth.

You will be expected to include the following in your final report:
1. A picture of your endangered species
2. a map of the area in which your endangered species is found
3. a report that includes the following categories of research:
- Name of the species
- Type of species/animal
- Colour
- Size
- Diet - What does your species eat and how does it get its food?
- Habitat - The environment in which an animal lives in is referred to as its habitat. A habitat is a place where living things live and how they survive in that area.
- Range - the range or distribution of a species is the geographical area within which that species can be found
- Enemies/Threats - who/what are its enemies? Are there any threats to its habitat, food or water supply? Is it hunted for a particular purpose? Is pollution harming the species? Is it sold as a pet?
- Importance - Why is this species important to the ecosystem?
- Life Span - How long does your species live?
- Endangered?/Animal Status - Is your species on an endangered list? How many are left? What are some ways your species can be protected?
- Something interesting - Have you discovered any interesting facts during your research?
How to present your findings: The final format for the project will be discussed in class.
