Welcome to the 2025 International Conference on "Gender, Disaster, and Welfare", with a special focus on the theme "Ocean and Women’s Resilience".
We are delighted to host this significant event on May 27–28, 2025, and warmly welcome scholars and experts from around the world, including our esteemed partners from Kobe University (Japan), Tunku Abdul Rahman University (Malaysia), Mae Fah Luang University (Thailand), and Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia).
This conference draws inspiration from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), introduced in 2015 to tackle global challenges such as poverty, hunger, peacebuilding, environmental protection, and inclusive prosperity. Taiwan responded to this global call by formulating its own Taiwan Sustainable Development Goals, which were finalized in 2018 and continue to evolve through an ongoing review process.
We are also proud to highlight the role of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Program, established by UNESCO in 1992 to foster international academic cooperation. Notably, Kobe University’s project on "Gender, Vulnerability, and Well-being in Disaster Risk Reduction Support" exemplifies interdisciplinary collaboration across the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. This initiative aligns with the SDGs and aims to advance education, research, and policy development to support resilience and peace.
Your participation will bring invaluable insights to this dialogue, and we look forward to your active engagement in making this conference a meaningful and impactful experience.
