Pathways Overview
Four credits of mathematics are required for graduation. Students must participate in a math or math-related course during their senior year. College-bound students are recommended to take a core math course senior year. The table below shows the pathways available to students starting with the year they take Algebra 1.
North Kingstown High School Math Program Pathways
Opportunity for remediation for students who fail Algebra 1 in grade 9
Students who fail with a grade between 60-69 will have the opportunity to enroll in summer school to recover the credit
Students who fail with a grade between 50-59 will have the opportunity to enroll in Algebra 1 and Geometry simultaneously in grade 10.
Acceleration Opportunity
Students interested in accelerating after completing Algebra 1 will be able to enroll in Geometry and Algebra 2 simultaneously by securing a recommendation from their Algebra 1 teacher
