Thinking about UDL, we often think of bridges - UDL lets us help students get from where they are right now to the content on the other side of the bridge. What types of tools can we use to increase access for all learners?
DURING FACE-TO-FACE learning, providing adapted scissors like this kind as part of your class scissors set - perhaps you have 5 pairs of these scissors and put one pair in each group's scissor bin. That way, any student could use any kind of scissors they'd like.
DURING REMOTE LEARNING using closed captioning can support students with hearing differences and all other learners who prefer to read the content rather than hear it.
ADDING OPTIONS in responding to a prompt such as using FlipGrid to record a response instead of typing it is a UDL support for students who require a scribe, but also allow all students the option of talking through their answer instead of typing it out.
