Course Description:
This course is open to guitar students that are at the beginning skill level. The course is designed to build skills and concepts beginning from the very basics and building to an intermediate level by the end of the 2nd semester.
• Focal points will be reading music and developing guitar playing skills, which include: standard notation, tablature, chords, rhythm, strumming styles, and finger picking. We will explore a wide variety of songs to facilitate and put into practice the concepts and lessons presented in class.
• Students will be guided through lessons that introduce them to the maintenance and care of the instrument.
• Students will work on chords and progressions in songs that develop a basic to intermediate skill level.
• Students will work individually.
• Each day, students will participate in the experiences of tuning their guitars, group instruction, and independent group practicing and playing.
