Imagine that you have come to Doncaster with your family for a little holiday. Write a postcard to a friend telling them all about the wonderful and exciting things you have done on your break, the places you have visited and some of the activities you have taken part in.
If you could have anything in your town what would it be? Imagine that there is going to be a brand-new development site coming to Doncaster. What would it be and what could you do there? Design the new site and draw the facilities you want to include.
Think of your favourite thing to do in Doncaster. Flip Out? Yorkshire Wildlife Park? The Dome? Create an advert persuading someone unfamiliar to the area to visit your favourite spot for the day.
In Doncaster, there are many beautiful Historic Houses, for example Brodsworth Hall and Cusworth Hall. Can you design your own historic building similar to these grand homes? You will need to consider the layout of the homes as they need to be fit for passing royal visitors and holding grand parties. Think about how the decor might look as well as the well-tended gardens.
The Mallard train is one of the most famous trains to be built within the UK. What facts can you find out about the Mallard? Why is it so famous? Were there any other famous trains built in Doncaster? Present your findings in a creative and interesting way.
Using your research, can you make an information leaflet about the train which could be used at Doncaster Tourist Information Centre? If you want to extend this further, can you draw a picture of the Mallard or make a model of the train using materials that you have within your house? Can you think of a creative way to construct your model? If you decide to draw the train, think about how you might use shading to show light and shadow.
