'What makes Doncaster Great?'
Our case study: Eat, drink, dance and shop
Please take the time to have a look at just a selection of the excellent work produced by our CREW.
From sketches to written work and even video clips, it's been a top effort!
Keep it coming!
Immersion week - 27.04.20
Jake has created a brilliant aerial plan of Doncaster Rovers and Lakeside. Good work Jake!
A well written post card from Liam informing me of his holiday in Doncaster. There's some good grammar work in this post card which was created using PowerPoint. Well done Liam!
A fantastic pencil sketch of Conisbrough Castle produced by Lacey. Already this is looking excellent. It's clear that she has taken her time to try get both the proportion and shading of the light and dark areas correct. I look forward to the finish sketch!
Toby has presented some facts about the Mallard train in a very unique way. It's both creative and informative. Great job!
Week beginning 04.05.20
Jake has redesigned the CAST Theatre logo very creatively. Using the computer, he experimented with different fonts and font sizes to see which were suitable before settling with the final design. For the final design, he came up with the idea for the lettering to be casting a shadow as he felt that this reflected the name well. What a brilliant idea and an excellent final logo which is both striking and appropriate.

Dalton has created a plan on the computer of a grand house similar to Cusworth Hall. It looks very professional! Well done Dalton!
This is just a selection of the fabulous Word Art that has been produced by children in 3MW.
Harriet’s top 5 facts (v2) (1).mp4
I highly recommend watching Harriet's 'Top 5 facts' video about the Mallard train. This has taken a lot of time and effort and is an excellent example of what can be achieved if you are resilient and determined to achieve a high quality outcome.
Week beginning 11.05.20
An excellent example of an information text introduction written by
Evelyn

More Word Art but this time produced in a different way
Many of you this week have been enjoying creating quizzes using Google Forms. From quizzes about CAST, Frenchgate and Doncaster Museum, it appears it has been a task which has helped to improve your computing skills. Well done to all who attempted this task.
You can have a go at Finlay's quiz. Below are screen shots of questions from other children's quizzes.
Izzabelle's quiz
Jakob's quiz
Liam's quiz
Just a sample of the brilliant acrostic poems about Doncaster which have been sent in. Beautiful work indeed!
Some of the timelines which have been produced this week. Some on the computer and some done by hand. Each to their own.
Week beginning 18.05.20
This week, many of you have been unleashing your creative streaks. Please browse the selection of art work that has been produced and take a moment to reflect on why you think it is beautiful work.
Evelyn has beautifully tried to replicate the Doncaster coat of arms. A tricky task none the less but proven possible with the right attitude.
Abstract art of Doncaster's St George's Minster.
Above are four examples of Van Gough's famous 'Starry Night' painting. What I like about the art above is that all four pieces have been created using different art mediums.
The information texts are looking great! Here's Finlay's well written and well structured third paragraph about the Frenchgate.
In addition to the above beautiful work, I have also seen some fantastic efforts with geography work on human and physical features and history work on St George's Minster. Some of you have also taken on my additional geography challenge too.
Week beginning 01.06.20
In some outdoor spaces and gardens, it can be problematic for insects to find shelter. However, I've seen some rather unique looking bug hotels crafted this week all of which will no doubt make fantastic shelters for the insects and bugs who choose to make the gardens and outdoor spaces of Doncaster their home. The following are just some of the 'hotels' that are now taking reservations.
More artwork now this time in the form of a nature collage. I have been blown away by the standard and creativity of the artwork which has been shared with me and by looking at the examples below, I think you will agree with me when I say they have been absolutely outstanding!
Georgia has produced this excellent rhyming poem about Doncaster. It's a tricky task to create a poem which rhymes but not for Georgia as you will see when you read it.

The sections of the information texts that have been shared with me have been nothing short of brilliant. To all of you who have submitted your paragraphs each week, you have all produced beautiful pieces of writing that you should all be very proud of.
Week beginning 08.06.20
This week, many of you have decided to tackle the menacing maths challenge and indeed have a go at setting me one too.
Harriet and Jake have devised and constructed their own musical instruments. Looking and no doubt sounding great!
I have seen some excellent looking clocks sent in which have been very well made and produced. Here's a couple...
Week beginning 15.06.20
This week, I have been sent some excellent symmetrical designs of jockey silks. Quite frankly, I could see any of these been worn by the jockeys at the St Leger.
Some of you have carried out your own water cycle experiments at home with great results. It's been a good week for rain that's for sure! The gardens are definitely thankful for it.
This week, many of you have chosen to create your own shop window displays. I have to say, the creativity has been wonderful. From equestrian gear to toys and more, I think the Frenchgate would welcome these new additions in no time.
Something a little different this week. Dalton has watched his caterpillars transform into butterflies. He set them free in his garden on Wednesday evening. What a beautiful thing to watch and do.
Week beginning 22.06.20
One of the tasks this week was to design a stained glass window for Doncaster Minster. As you can see from the efforts above, the children have yet again produced and delivered brilliant art work with attention to detail.
Harriet has created a brilliant shape poem about music at CAST in the shape of a musical note. Have a read of it and you will see why.
Yet again, some of you have decided to attempt the maths challenge with very pleasing results. I have no doubt the core values will have been shown whilst completing the questions.
