YWCC Grad Meet Date: 09/30/2022
The event was organized to create an opportunity for the new graduate students to connect with their peers and seniors. This was a collaborative event organized by GWICS(Graduating Women in Computing Society), DSC(Data Science Club), and GSA(Graduate Student Organization). The event kicked off with a welcome note from Dr.James Geller(Advisor GWICS and Chair of the Department of Data Science) and Dr. Vincent Oria (Chair of the Department of Computer Science). The attendees were then indulged in games like bingo, Zenga, Crossword, and many more. All the winners of the game were given prizes, which included GSA Hoodies, GWICS T-shirts, and GSA and GWICS Mugs.

GWICS - Graduate Women in Computing Society
NJIT Graduate Women in Computing Society (GWiCS) promotes and supports NJIT's growing community of women studying in the fields of computing and technology. Through GWiCS, members develop their skill set at student-hosted workshops, participate in mentorship programs, and network at national conferences, such as the Grace Hopper Conference. In addition, members regularly take part in professional development activities and site visits with tech companies including Facebook. GWICS also actively conducts outreach to high school students to empower young women to pursue studies in computing.

NJIT's Graduate Women in Computing Society (G-WiCS), which aims at empowering and encouraging women in technology, has a new space and board members!
The new GwiCS team includes President Jingyi, Vice-President Veena, Treasurer Jaini, and Secretary Praneetha.
NJIT's 2022 GirlHacks competition
GirlHacks, annual hackathon, hosted by NJIT's Women in Computing Society, for fun activities and creativity, sharpening skills, and meeting new people!
Launched in Fall 2020, NJIT's Sisters Helping Sisters program matches female graduate students in computing with female undergraduate computing students, providing a welcoming space for students seeking help with Python and Java programming in CS100 and CS113 courses.
A hierarchical mentoring program led by Dr. Yvette Wohn, a female professor who mentored a group of female computing graduate students, and provided each graduate student with the skills to mentor a group of female CS100 students.
Topics covered included succeeding as a woman in the study of Computer Science up to graduation, job hunting, and thriving in a technology job.

NJIT's Honors College and WiCS students are forming a local Girls Who Code club. More information coming soon.
