Organoid and Neuroscience Lab (ONLab) at the Biomedical Engineering Department of National Institute of Technology, Raipur was established in the year 2017 under the joint leadership of Dr Shashikanta Tarai and Dr Arindam Bit. Dr Mainak Basu joined the lab in February 2024. Current laboratory space is limited to 350 sq feet. This small lab has shown tremendous committment towards development of impactful outcomes.
ONLab was founded to explore science through the lenses of nature and society. The lab’s philosophy focuses on understanding natural phenomena through human cognition and nature, translating these insights into models to address complex challenges in healthcare and energy sciences.
Research at the lab focuses on developing innovative microfluidic devices, point-of-care diagnostics, and models for diverse biomedical applications, including sepsis detection, cognitive neuroscience and neurocinematic analysis, cellular mechanotransduction, biomechanics and regenerative medicine, enhancing healthcare diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.
Currently, the lab has started working closely with industries on their probem statement; focusing on bringing accreditation to the lab equipments, for generating mechanisms of capacity building, and up-skilling of human resources.
