How to reach

Karaikal is well connected by rail with major cities such as Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Bengaluru and Ernakulam. Karaikal Railway Station is situated approximately 11 km from the NIT Puducherry campus at Thiruvettakudy. The institute can be conveniently reached by auto-rickshaw or taxi from the railway station, with a travel time of about 20–30 minutes. Karaikal Bus Stand is located about 8.5 km from the campus and is well connected by regular bus services from nearby cities and towns. 

There are regular flights to Puducherry Airport from cities such as Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Puducherry Airport is approximately 135 km from the NIT Puducherry campus at Karaikal. Hired taxi services are available from the airport, and the travel time to the campus is around 3 to 3.5 hours. The taxi fare is approximately Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 4,500. Visitors may also use Chennai International Airport (about 300 km away) or Tiruchirappalli International Airport (about 165 km away), both of which offer excellent connectivity to major domestic and international destinations.

Regular government and private bus services operate throughout the day, providing convenient access to Karaikal. The NIT Puducherry campus at Thiruvettakudy is located about 8.5 km from Karaikal Bus Stand. Visitors can easily reach the campus by auto-rickshaw or taxi, with fares typically ranging from Rs. 150 to Rs. 250.
