Yet another chance of hosting a special talk on the 23rd March , 2024, a collaborative effort between ECE department and MTTS Student Branch Chapter NIT Meghalaya, brought forth a captivating hybrid talk on "Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces for Communications and Radars." Dr. Kumar Vijay Mishra, a distinguished lecturer, shared his expertise, delving into the transformative potential of intelligent surfaces.

Attending the Alumni Meet 2024 at St. Edmund’s College . The event illuminated how St. Edmund’s has been instrumental in shaping who we are today. Reconnecting with old friends and revisiting familiar places evoked a flood of emotions and underscored the importance of staying connected to our roots. It reaffirmed the value of cherishing these relationships and experiences that have significantly influenced our lives. As we move forward, let us treasure these bonds and draw inspiration from our shared history at St. Edmund’s College.
Research Conclave at NIT Meghalaya 2024
Hosted the IEEE MTT-S Student Branch Chapter at NIT, Meghalaya with Dr. Gautaum Chattopadhyay (Senior Scientist at NASA) and Dr. Chinmoy Saha (Professor at IIST, Thiruvananthapurom).
The IEEE Student Branch at NIT Meghalaya is proud to announce the inauguration of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS), Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA), IEEE Sensor Council, IEEE Systems Council, Student Branch Chapters, and the IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group along with collaboration with MTTS-IEEE Joint Student Branch Chapter, NIT Meghalaya. This milestone was marked by the launch of a five-day WIE workshop titled “Engineering the Future: From Data to Design,” celebrating the contributions of women engineers in areas like sustainable design, data analytics, AI, and global development. Day 1 featured the formal inauguration in the presence of our Director, Prof. Pinakeswar Mahanta of NIT Meghalaya, Sohra, and Dean (Academics), Prof. Anup Dandapat, followed by expert talks from Prof. Sheli Sinha Chaudhuri on smart farming using vision data and the role of WIE in fostering collaboration and innovation, and Prof. Susmita Surkolay on the challenges of quantum computing. Afterwards, we visited the breathtaking landscapes of Cherrapunji, renowned as the wettest place on Earth, and explored the majestic Kynrem Falls, the seventh tallest waterfall in India. Amidst the serenity of nature, Prof. Susmita Surkolay shared meaningful reflections and life lessons on the importance of being kind, humble, sincere, and compassionate in making the world a better place, not just for ourselves but for others. Further, Prof. Sheli Sinha Chaudhuri emphasised us how a positive mindset can profoundly impact our overall happiness and contribute to a healthy mind and body.
