The Cosmology and Gravity Group studies the origin, evolution and large-scale structure of the Universe, and tests the gravitational physics that underpins modern cosmology.
Our main research themes are:
modified theories of gravity, including f(R), f(T) and f(Q) models
cosmological perturbations and large-scale structure formation
interacting dark energy and dark matter
observational cosmology and tensions in H₀, S₈ and related probes
black holes, gravitational lensing and strong-field gravity
dynamical systems in cosmology
cosmic magnetism, reionisation and SKA-era science
scientific computing, simulations and statistical inference
A current cross-cutting focus is the Cosmological Consistency Triangle, which tests cosmological models jointly against background expansion, growth amplitude and a theory-specific third observable. The group combines theoretical work with emerging observational data, and brings together staff, visiting researchers, postdoctoral fellows and postgraduate students.
