Lam was born and raised in Jowai, Meghalaya – one of the ‘Seven Sister States and One Brother’ of India. He joined Assam Rifles Public School, Laitkor, Meghalaya for his higher secondary education. He then joined National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar in July 2019 as an Integrated Master’s student, and is currently working under the supervision of Dr. Ponneri C. Ravikumar. His research interest and current work are on “Transition metal-catalyzed C-C and C-H bond activation”. In addition to his academic interests, he enjoys fiction reading, table tennis, swimming, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
