WELCOME TO THE 2025-26 School Year! I will reserve mass emails for supply requests and show/contest information.  This blog and our class Instagram account @tidwell_art are two great places to look to see our current projects and current tasks for both Art 1 and Digital Art and Animation.  The most current information will always be on top.  Make sure to check the supply list using the tab on the top! I'm excited to get this year started! 

Foundations of Art and Art 1: 

We will start our year  getting familiar with the room and tools we have to use. Then EVERYONE will begin with drawing basics! You will see a big emphasis on value because shading dark to light is a super power when drawing. But also, we will focus on  how to use resources and basic shapes to ensure successful drawings.  As the year continues, the prompts will open up to allow for lots of creative thinking and mess making- but for now...we are learning to care for our work and materials. Technique is key in Q1!

Digital Art :  We start with Illustrator and becoming familiar with the Adobe Platforms.  We are getting comfortable on a desktop computer.  We will use a handful of templates to start in order to get comfortable with the drawing tools. The rest of the year will allow for much for freedom and creativity. Sometimes we will work on paper- this is to allow the teaching of art basics without the struggle of new tools and to allow some catch up time on computers!
