Parents,

Wow! We are nearing the end of the first semester. We are proud of our Hawk Leaders and their hard work. This month, we will re-assess their progress formally with district assessments. Please make sure your leaders are getting plenty of rest, a good breakfast and continue to read each night. Their performance is important as we continue to improve learning plans for whole classrooms, small groups and individual students. Students will set new wildly important goals after assessments are complete. We know they have made great progress and can't wait to share their individual results with them. December is also full of fun! Please check out the 21-22 Events Calendar page for upcoming events. If your family does not participate in holiday celebrations, please let your teacher know so that they have adequate time to prepare alternate plans.

Important events coming up: Breakfast with Santa and Vendor Fair sponsored by PTA (Saturday, 12/4 from 8:30-10:30am), NISD Reindeer Romp (Saturday, 12/11) 5th Grade Holiday Performance (Thursday, 12/16 at 6:30pm) and Holiday Parties in classrooms (Friday, 12/17 Grades PK-2 from 8:30-9:30am and Grades 3-5 from 9:30-10:30am).

Holiday parties will be on 12/17. This is an early dismissal day. This year we will stagger our parties so we can hopefully alleviate some of the parking challenges. The 21-22 Events Calendar page has more details with times for each grade. Please note that since it is an early dismissal day, lunch times will begin promptly once parties are finished.

Absences - It is the season of stomach bugs and flu! Please continue the conversation at home about hand washing and covering coughs. If you are interested in more information about COVID vaccinations for children, you can learn more on our Health and Wellness page.

If your child is going to be absent, please email Lisa Lewis (llewis@nisdtx.org) or call the front office 817-215-0550. You can also report an absence on our website.

Upon return, please send a note with your child. If they were absent due to an appointment, please be sure to get an excused notice from the provider before you leave your appointment.

If your child is absent because they have tested positive for COVID, please report the absence at this link in addition to calling/emailing the absence to PVE office. It does ask for your child's student ID#. If you don't have it, you can call the office at 817-215-0550 and we can help you with that information. If your student shares a class with someone who has tested positive for COVID, you will be notified via email.

*While you are picking out school outfits, don't forget a pair of tennis shoes for PE and recess.

*Send a water bottle that kids can refill throughout the day.

*Remind your leader that we have a lot of new friends here at PVE this year. Kindness is FREE!

*Bus Riders must stay in their assigned seat and wear their seatbelt.

Estimados Padres,

¡Guau! Nos acercamos al final del primer semestre. Estamos orgullosos de nuestros líderes Hawk y su arduo trabajo. Este mes, volveremos a evaluar su progreso formalmente con las evaluaciones del distrito. Por favor asegúrese de que sus líderes estén descansando lo suficiente, un buen desayuno y continúen leyendo cada noche. Su desempeño es importante a medida que continuamos mejorando los planes de aprendizaje para aulas completas, grupos pequeños y estudiantes individuales. Los estudiantes establecerán nuevas metas tremendamente importantes después de que se completen las evaluaciones. Sabemos que han logrado un gran progreso y estamos ansiosos por compartir sus resultados individuales con ellos. ¡Diciembre también está lleno de diversión! Si su familia no participa en las celebraciones navideñas, avísele a su maestro para que tenga tiempo suficiente para preparar planes alternativos.

Próximos eventos importantes: Desayuno con Papá Noel y Feria de Vendedores patrocinada por la PTA (sábado, 4 de diciembre de 8:30-10:30 am), NISD Reindeer Romp (sábado, 11 de diciembre) Actuación navideña de quinto grado (jueves, 16 de diciembre a las 6:30 pm) y fiestas navideñas en los salones de clases (viernes, 12/17 Grados PK-2 de 8: 30-9: 30am y Grados 3-5 de 9: 30-10: 30am).

Las fiestas navideñas serán el 17/12. Este es un día de salida temprano. Este año escalonaremos nuestras fiestas para que podamos aliviar algunos de los desafíos del estacionamiento. La página del calendario de eventos 21-22 tiene más detalles con los tiempos para cada grado. Tenga en cuenta que, dado que es un día de salida temprano, la hora del almuerzo comenzará puntualmente una vez que terminen las fiestas.

Ausencias - ¡Es la temporada de las enfermedades estomacales y la gripe! Continúe la conversación en casa sobre lavarse las manos y cubrirse al toser. Si su hijo va a estar ausente, envíe un correo electrónico a Lisa Lewis (llewis@nisdtx.org) o llame a la oficina principal al 817-215-0550. También puede informar una ausencia en nuestro sitio web.

A su regreso, envíe una nota con su hijo. Si estuvieron ausentes debido a una cita, asegúrese de recibir una notificación justificada del proveedor antes de salir de la cita.

Si su hijo está ausente porque dio positivo en la prueba de COVID, informe la ausencia en este enlace además de llamar o enviar un correo electrónico a la oficina de PVE. Solicita el número de identificación de estudiante de su hijo. Si no lo tiene, puede llamar a la oficina al 817-215-0550 y podemos ayudarlo con esa información. Si su estudiante comparte una clase con alguien que ha dado positivo por COVID, se le notificará por correo electrónico.

* Mientras eliges la ropa de la escuela, no olvides un par de tenis para la educación física y el recreo.

* Envíe una botella de agua que los niños puedan rellenar durante el día.

* Recuerde a su líder que tenemos muchos amigos nuevos aquí en PVE este año. ¡La bondad es gratis!

* Los pasajeros de autobús deben permanecer en su asiento asignado y usar el cinturón de seguridad.
