Mr. Gordon is the Director of Bands at Medlin Middle School in Trophy Club, Texas. Prior to his appointment as the Director of Bands, Mr. Gordon started his teaching career as the Assistant Band Director at Medlin Middle School in 2021.
Under his direction, the bands at Medlin have received the highest possible ratings at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading evaluation each year and many of his ensembles have been awarded the "Best in Class" distinction at competitions across DFW. Mr. Gordon’s professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Educators, Texas Bandmasters Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Pi Kappa Lambda.
Originally from Austin, Texas, Mr. Gordon graduated Summa Cum Laude from Baylor University with a bachelor’s degree in music education. In his free time, Mr. Gordon enjoys trail running, reading, and anything that involves getting outdoors. Additionally, Mr. Gordon continues to play his tuba in various community bands in DFW including past membership in the Carrollton Wind Symphony and current membership in the Fort Worth Winds.
Dr. Wolfe comes to Medlin with a tremendous amount of experience, and we could not be more excited to have him work with our students this year! Some quick facts about Dr. Wolfe are that he has both a M.M and B.M degree in Jazz and Saxophone Studies from UNT, and a D.M.A in Jazz Studies and Theory/Composition from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His main instrument is the Saxophone, and he has previously taught at the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts in Fort Worth, Texas and is the founder of the Lone Star Music Society. He has also formerly served as Director of Jazz Studies at the Valley Christian Conservatory of the Arts in San Jose, CA and as Assistant Professor of Saxophone and Director of the Gene Harris Jazz Festival at Boise State University.
John Bingaman also serves as Director of Percussion Studies at Medlin Middle School in Trophy Club, Texas. His drumlines have achieved high placements at the HEB, Plano, and Lonestar Drumline Contests. Prior to his appointment at Byron Nelson High School, John was the percussion director at John Horn High School where they placed third at the 2012 Percussive Arts Society Marching Percussion Festival in the standstill division. Mr. Bingaman’s students have made the Texas All-State band consistently with one as recently as 2025.
Mr. Bingaman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. John performed with the Monroe Symphony Orchestra for five seasons and then played thirteen seasons as a percussionist with the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra. John was featured as a soloist with the orchestra by performing a marimba concerto in 2004. He is also an active percussionist, drumset player, adjudicator, and clinician in the DFW area serving on staffs such as the “Roll” Models Percussion Summer Camps and the North Texas Middle School Percussion Camp. Mr. Bingaman, an educational artist for Mapex/Majestic, has also presented percussion clinics at the 2019 TMEA convention, 2021 Art of Teaching Music Symposium, 2021 Stryvemind Director Symposium, and the 2021 Texas Bandmasters Association Convention.
