Is your child both Gifted and Dyslexic?
- Read to your child! Most children enjoy being read to, but 2-E children, in particular, greatly benefit from read-alouds and the level of excitement involved in sharing a story.
- Remind your child that he/she is not alone. Many famous people have dyslexia and have become successful despite their struggles. It is important for our 2-E learners to be able to make these connections.

- Engage your child in conversations regarding the books you're reading. 2-E children benefit from higher level thinking and discussions.
- Utilize audiobooks as a tool for your child to access high interest reading material. learningally.org/
- Celebrate your child's talents to help develop a positive self-concept. A positive self-esteem is important as they take on challenging tasks.
- Continue to support your child's social-emotional development. 2-E learners hold themselves to a higher standard and can expect themselves to excel in all areas. When they experience struggles, despite their giftedness, it can be confusing and lead to feelings of frustration and anxiety.
- Help your child set realistic goals. Encourage and praise your child's efforts and perseverance, particularly on challenging tasks.
