MTA - Multisensory Teaching Approach

MTA is a research-based program for the remediation of Dyslexia and other reading disabilities. It follows research begun at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. It is an Orton-Gillingham multisensory approach to teaching reading that combines visual, auditory and kinesthetic instruction. Based on the alphabet symbol system, MTA teaches the science of the written language and addresses reading, handwriting and spelling.

MTA is a comprehensive, integrated language arts program focusing on reading decoding and comprehension, spelling and composition, cursive handwriting, and alphabet and dictionary skills. It encompasses the structure and science of the English language and all students start at the beginning of the curriculum.

Your child will receive instruction in phonological awareness, verbal expression, alphabet/dictionary skills, reading comprehension, reading fluency, cursive handwriting and spelling. MTA classes will meet four days a week for one-hour sessions. This may vary due to campus activities and schedules.
