Creating a way to stop the run away pumpkin

In the story the pumpkin kept rolling! Can you design something that can help stop the run away pumpkin?

Challenge:

Design and create a way to stop a moving pumpkin. Be sure to use the Engineering Design Process. Click here for the steps.

Materials:

For the stopping contraption - Try using only recycled materials. Here are some suggestions: paper towel tubes, aluminum foil, empty cans, newspaper, bubble wrap, Popsicle sticks., plastic grocery bags, tissue paper, etc.

The pumpkin can be real or fake. If you don't have a pumpkin, use something similar like a baseball or tennis ball.

Restrictions - Pumpkin must be in motion- try rolling it down a ramp or making it roll like a bowling ball.

Goal:

The rolling pumpkin must be stopped by the design you create.

Guidelines:

Try to use as many recycled items as possible. To participate, you may submit your pictures and/or video of you pumpkin being stopped on the Specials/Library SeeSaw under the October STEAM Challenge Activity before October 31st.

Challenge:

See just how heavy an object your creation can stop! Report how your stopping creation did in the SeeSaw Activity.

Good Luck, Hawks!
