Hughes Reading Connections

Reading as a Focus

At Hughes Elementary, we believe that it is important to foster a life-long love of learning and to provide a nurturing and engaging learning environment that will meet the diverse needs of every child. We are committed to developing excellence in all areas: socially, emotionally and academically. We feel that all areas of learning are linked through reading skills. Our campus focus this year is to engage students in relevant and meaningful reading experiences.

We are THANKFUL!

In this month of thanksgiving, we would like to encourage all staff and students to be grateful for someone or something in their lives.

We will be creating a Thankful "wall" - students and families will be receiving a "Thankful" brick to write something or someone they are thankful for and why.

Here is a read aloud of the book, Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert. The story is read by Arianna Armstrong on YouTube.

Scholastic Online Book Fair

Did you know that you can order books online through the Scholastic Book Fair website all year round? The orders will be shipped to your home.

The best part is that our school will receive some of the proceeds!
