This course is a blended book study.  Participants will receive a copy of Differentiating the Curriculum for Gifted Learners (Effective Teaching in Today's Classroom) by Wendy Conklin.  All assignments and discussions will take place in Google Classroom. 

Participants will explore the reasons as to why gifted students should be serviced in our schools and take the mystery out of teaching them by implementing the research-supported strategies provided in this book. This updated resource focuses on ways that teachers can not only identify gifted students but how to extend, accelerate, and enrich curriculum to meet the needs of gifted learners.

Some of the topics that will be covered:

• How to prepare a differentiated classroom

• Curriculum compacting

• Encouraging creativity

Teachers will read and respond to the text, interact with their colleagues, create products, and participate in a Zoom discussion.
