The PD Playlist gives you the chance to learn about a specific topic in gifted education. You’ll be able to learn through a variety of mediums depending on the topic you select. You also have choice in your final product using the RAFT strategy.
RAFT is a writing strategy that can help students -
understand their role as a writer
effectively communicate their ideas clearly so that the reader can easily understand the writing
focus on the audience
focus one of the many formats of writing
be creative
consider their topic from multiple perspectives
What to do:
Choose the topic you want to learn more about. Use the resources on the playlist to dive deep into the content.
After learning about the topic, use RAFT to process your learning. You pick one item from each column to create your product. For example, you may take on the role of a parent writing a letter to the counselor about your student's perfectionism. Or you take on the role of a friend of a student who is twice exceptional and you create a video for other students.
Reflect on your learning (content & product) either on your ePortfolio or blog. Include a link to your product. When you reflect, think about these guiding questions:
How does your learning connect with a classroom, campus, or district goal?
What are 3 insights you are walking with?
What two questions do you still have?
What is the one thing you want to implement in your classroom?
4. Share your learning with your professional learning network (PLN). Tweet your product using #nisdgt and @audrarowell94.
5. Submit your work in the EOC survey.
6. Your learning should come from the variety of resources provided on the playlist. The variety of resources should be evident in your final product and in your reflection. Use these guiding questions to frame your thinking. This thinking should be evident in your product.
