CHISHOLM TRAIL ORCHESTRA VISION & MISSION

In the Chisholm Trail Middle School Orchestra we endeavor to create a safe, family-oriented space where students grow and thrive- Not only as musicians but as contributing members of society, through daily instruction and community involvement. It is our belief that anyone can learn to play an instrument. Whether they choose to play for a short time or it blossoms into a life-long love, the goal of the CTMS Orchestra is to leave a positive impression on the life of every student that walks through the doors.

WHAT IS ORCHESTRA???

Orchestra is one of 3 music options your child has when entering into middle school! Students do NOT have to have any previous experience in music to be successful in Orchestra.  You also don't have to purchase an instrument for your child to join our orchestra program. We start from square one and go from there!

  ABOUT MRS. STEVENSON

Hello! My name is Shannon Stevenson and I am excited to begin my 19th year of teaching as a CTMS Bulldog! My career started in Fredericksburg, VA in 2004 where I taught elementary strings and was the head director at two middle schools. In 2009 I moved back to Arlington, TX where I taught one year of elementary strings and spent three years as an assistant director at Lamar High School. In 2013 I accepted a position as a co-director at Wilson Middle School right here in NISD. I have dedicated the last nine years of my career to building the program there. I believe that my experience has led me to this position and I am excited to see this program grow and thrive.

I was born and raised in Arlington, TX and attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA where I received my Bachelors of Music Education. Last year my family moved from the Haslet area to Rhome. My husband is the Head Athletic Trainer at Northwest High School. I have a son that attends Eaton High School and a daughter who starts at Seven Hills this year. I also have two bonus daughters that live in Frisco. My favorite things to do are  camp with my family, work in my garden and play my cello at church on Sunday's. The beach is my happy place- I love recharging my batteries near the ocean every summer.

I look forward to getting to know you learning the values and traditions of CTMS!
