Week 26- Feb. 26th

What We Are Learning in First Grade

Morning Meeting:

We will continue our month long focus on Kindness.

Phonics:

We will continue learning about vowel teams in the middle of words. We will learn about vowel teams /ow/, /oi/ and /oy/. We will also look at the different sounds that vowel team /oo/ can make.

Reader's Workshop:

We will learn how to "Be the Boss of our Reading". We will practice working with our reading partners to get help when we're stuck on tricky words. We will also work to solve words in books using our picture and known word parts.

Writer's Workshop:

We will continue our opinion writing unit focusing on writing about our favorite items from our collections as well as our least favorite items. We will focus on using reasoning to justify our claims. We will also learn about politely disagreeing with other's opinions.

Math Workshop:

We will be taking our Module 9 summative and will be practicing for our next CBA. Modules 7-9 CBA on Thursday!

Science:

We will continue learning about living and nonliving things. We will explore the characteristics that make something either living or nonliving and will wrap up the week with our unit test.

Social Studies:

We will continue learning about different landforms.
