Week 24- Feb. 12th
Valentines Parties will be held on Friday, Feb. 16th. Parties will take place in your child's classroom from 1:15-2:00pm. Students are encouraged to make a Valentines boxes AT HOME and bring to school on Monday, Feb. 12th. We will not be making bags/boxes here at school.

What We Are Learning in First Grade
Morning Meeting:
We will continue our month long focus on Kindness.
Phonics:
We will continue learning about vowel teams in the middle of words. We will wrap up our focus on /ea/, /oa/ and /ai/.
Reader's Workshop:
We will continue becoming nonfiction experts. We'll practice using drama to bring our reading to life and we will refresh ourselves on the good habits of readers.
Writer's Workshop:
We will continue writing nonfiction books. We'll spend the week wrapping up our reserach on animals and will finalize our informational teaching books about those animals.
Math Workshop:
We will be learning about how to balance equations using a pan balance and other visuals to help us in our understanding.
Science:
We will continue our learning around daytime and nighttime skies, focusing specifically on the different phases of the moon.
Social Studies:
We will learn about maps and how we use cardinal directions.
