Week 18 - Dec. 18th

Holiday Parties:

We will have our classroom holiday party at on Thursday, Dec. 21st from 9:15-10:00am. Parents should RSVP through the ParentSquare Newsletter post. Registering in advance will ensure you are in our classroom in time for the party. Not registering will result in you being delayed in the front office!

Parents will be able to sign their students out immediately after the party. Please be sure to get with your child's teacher to sign them out and receive a "golden ticket". The ticket must be signed by both you and your child's teacher before being allowed to exit from any door.

What We Are Learning in First Grade

Morning Meeting:

We will continue learning about and practicing gratitude as a character trait. We will talk about ways we can show gratitude at home, at school and in the community.

Phonics:

We will practice with compound words.

Reader's Workshop:

We will focus on various comprehension skills through class read alouds.

Writer's Workshop:

We will continue practicing with different types of correspondence such as text messages and friendly letters.

Math Workshop:

We will learn about addition using three addends as well as learning a new strategy for addition, the "make ten" strategy.

Science:

We will continue learning about weather.

Social Studies:

We will learn about differnet winter holidays around the world all day on Wednesday!
