If your child has a medical note that prevents them from playing at recess, please make sure that you also inform P.E. and music teachers. Students move a lot in both of these classes and teachers need to know of any limitations.
Students may bring a dry, quick, and healthy snack. Good suggestions are apple slices, carrot sticks, grapes, goldfish, pretzels and granola bars. Please do not send chips, cookies, candy, anything that needs to be peeled, and anything that needs a utensil to eat for your child to have as a snack.
Students may bring a filled water bottle with only clear (unflavored) water. Do not add flavor packets to the water in case of spills. Students may not bring cups with straws. Only water bottles that can securely close will be allowed.

PARENTS, Please watch and follow staff directions in the morning drop off. We need you to pull all the way forward. Please do not stop at the kindergarten doors as you back up traffic. We need to keep everything flowing. We have staff on hand to assist students getting to class.

Please remember to follow our attendance guidelines and keep your child home when they are sick. While we value your child’s learning time in the classroom, help prevent the spread of illness and ensure the health of other students by making sure your child is fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school. Please also talk to your child about healthy habits like frequent hand washing and covering your mouth when coughing.

Students will receive a test review for math. This review is optional, but encouraged. Students are encouraged to practice multiplication facts of two. Students are also encouraged to read every night and review addition and subtraction facts for automaticity.
This week, students will begin learning about fiction texts.

This week, students will begin the publishing process. Students will choose a small moment/personal narrative that they want to turn into a published book. Throughout this week and next we will review the drafting process before revising, editing, and publishing.
Ask your child what "small moment" ideas they have for their personal narratives. Ask them which story they want to continue stretching into a "book".
Skills Block:
This week, students will be studying syllables, and how they help us spell words. The students will continue to learn about common and proper nouns and how to use capitalization for proper nouns.

This week, students will represent multiplication facts by using a variety of approaches. Students will also focus multiplication facts of zero and one. On Thursday, students will be tested on Topic 2. Students will receive a test review for math on Monday. This review is optional, but encouraged. Students who complete the test review and turn it in by Thursday will receive extra credit on the test. Students need to know multiplication facts of two in a "snap." We will assess fluency of the multiplication facts of two on Friday, September 4th.
