What Can the Library Do For You?

To think about a library you may envision an old building, full of dusty encyclopedias, outdated books, and a grumpy librarian demanding silence. Words like modern, exciting, fun, noisy, even entertaining, are words you may never have associated with libraries in real life or ones you have encountered.

The 21st century library has the demand to break all these typical library stereotypes in order to stay relevant with its patrons.

The modern library I strive to provide to my students is one that feels like an inclusive space in the school. The doors remain open to all learners.

The library is known as a place to come for information whether that be for an assignment, a database, or a book. The library makes available to readers the retrieval of materials both in print and digital forms.

The library is a place to collaborate, both for students and teachers. The library implements programs and lessons that promote helping students and teachers be effective users of ideas and information.

In addition, our library is a safe place that welcomes everyone and the freedom to read. We champion the right to access information for all people and celebrate differences.
