TAGT - I've been a member of the Texas Association for the Gifted & Talented for over a decade. It is the state organization for the educators and parents of gifted learners. It provides not only great professional development, but also wonderful resources to help me do my job. It's how I stay on top of the most recent research and trends in gifted education, as well as changes to state and federal law that impacts advanced academics. As a volunteer, I've been fortunate enough to be involved with the education committee and to work with coordinators/directors who are new to their role in gifted education. I've also presented at both the annual conference and the Leadership conference.
Both MAAC and NETAAC are local networks of gifted and advanced academics coordinators/directors. MAAC includes the entire DFW Metroplex while NETAAC is a smaller group made up of districts in Northeast Tarrant County. I don't know what I would have done without these groups over the years. They provide such great support and act as sounding boards when I have a big challenge to tackle.
Twitter - I love Twitter because it exposes me to other gifted educators and advocates that otherwise I may never interact with. I have found some great blogs, articles and podcasts just by being active on Twitter. The other thing I love about the Twitterverse are the chats. Every Tuesday evening, you can join in the #gtchat to discuss a particular issue in gifted education. Follow me @audrarowell94.
After 20+ years in education, I've attended a lot of professional development. These are the trainings that have stuck with me over the years and have had an impact on me as an educator.
As someone who works with a special population across all contents, I feel that it is important to continue learning in the four core areas. When possible, I try to attend other conferences like TCSS, mini-CAST, and NTCTELA.
Someday I would like to attend SENG.

I've also been very fortunate to deliver professional development for other districts and organizations.
